Have you been broken by loss, grief, or abuse? Maybe you've felt outcast and lonely.

I've been there too, and I'm wondering what it looks like to live beautifully broken and more than mended.

Come join me on this journey!

Pause and Pay Attention

I don’t know about you, but as I struggle with decisions, I want clear signposts that say, “You’re on the right track. This is the way to a happy and fulfilled life. This is the door to your dreams—open here.” But our decisions usually aren’t simple; most of the time, there are no signposts. Perhaps, like me, you’re wondering if you – if I – dare to take the less traveled path. Do we even know how to do that? What is the next step?

Loving the Lost, Lonely, and Missing

I see the young man walking down the highway almost a mile before I pass him. I watch him walk with his head down and hunched shoulders as though he expects to arrive without assistance wherever the road takes him. I wonder who he is, where he has been, and if someone somewhere is missing him. My heart aches for him, for those who love him, and for myself and the son who is never far from my thoughts, so as I pass, I pray.

Greater Than Our Hearts

don’t understand myself. I want to do what is right but do what I hate. I felt regret for not speaking up, struggled with emotions, and prayed for clarity. Despite our heart’s deception, we find worth and grace through God’s love, which understands us better than we do.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God ~ 2 Corinthians 1:4

About Me

I’m back! I’m writing, blogging, and speaking again after a long season of growth and healing. It has taken me a long time to see that God’s beautiful, redemptive work is most often seen in brokenness, so I’m wondering what it looks like to be beautifully broken and to live more than mended.  Join me here as I write for the grieving, the broken, the outcast (LBGTQ Christian parents and adult children), the lonely, and the abused and how I have found joy and peace in all of these hard places.

My Journey With Justin

This book is my story – the first chapter in a lifelong journey of faith. Perhaps parts of my story may mirror yours. It is my prayer that as you read how God used hardships to heal my heart, you too may begin to experience God’s healing and peace – even in the midst of your present pain.

From the back cover

This is the touching true story of a young mother whose five year old son is suddenly left severely brain damaged as a result of unintended but devastating complications of open-heart surgery. Follow her journey of faith from heartbreak and hardship to happiness and healing as God uses the handicaps of her son to open her eyes to the handicaps hidden in her own heart.

Thank You

I would like to thank everyone who has encouraged and supported me as I return to writing and blogging. I would also like to thank all of those who helped make a new laptop a reality.

And a very special thanks to my son, Jerrod! Without his help and support, this website would not be possible!
